Dried lavender bundles in soft morning light

A small studio rooted in season and place.

Fernwood & Bloom began with a farmers’ market table in 2014. Twelve years later, we’re still led by what grows nearby and what changes week to week.

We believe a good bouquet isn’t a statement — it’s a letter. Something small, seasonal, carefully chosen, sent with the honesty of what’s actually blooming that week.

How we grew

2014

Spring

A table at the Brooklyn flea

Maya bought a van-load of tulips from a farm in Red Hook and started selling hand-tied bouquets on Saturdays. The table sold out in two hours.

2017

The first shop

A storefront on Willow Lane

After three years of pop-ups, we moved into a narrow space next to a coffee roaster in Greenpoint. The walk-in cooler is still the original.

Weddings & events

Our first wedding season

We designed 34 weddings in one summer — every one locally sourced, every one different. Our events program has been our favorite work ever since.

2026

Now

The atelier

We moved into a larger studio last fall. Same hands, same growers, a little more room to host workshops and a lot more natural light.

The atelier

A bright room full of buckets

Our studio is just a big room with a lot of light, a walk-in cooler, two marble tables, and every kind of vessel we could ever want to arrange into.

Workshops & FAQ

Questions we love answering

Do you host workshops?

Yes — we host seasonal workshops in the atelier (bouquet-building in spring, wreath-making in winter) and small private groups year-round. Sign up via the newsletter to hear about dates first.

Where do your flowers come from?

From eighteen small farms in the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and New Jersey — all within about 150 miles of the studio. We’ll sometimes source specialty varieties from our partner farm in Vermont.

Do you design weddings & events?

Yes, and it’s our favorite work. We design around 40 weddings a year, mostly in NYC and the Hudson Valley. Send us a note with your date and we’ll send back a consultation form.

Can I request a specific color or flower?

Always — write to us before 10am and we’ll do what we can. We work with whatever is fresh that day, so exact matches aren’t guaranteed, but palette and mood almost always are.

Let’s make something beautiful.

For weddings, events, or just a very good Wednesday — we’d love to hear from you.
